You don’t have to
learn it all today.

Medicare has different pieces. We’ll help you understand how they can fit together for you.

BEFORE WE TALK

Three things to bring.

01

Your timing.

When does your current coverage end, and when do you need the next plan to begin?

02

Your everyday care.

Bring the names of doctors, facilities, and prescriptions you want to check.

03

Your full budget.

Compare monthly premiums and what you may pay when you receive care.

Start with what’s changing.

Maybe you’re leaving a job, working for yourself, or looking for coverage for your family. Start with three things: your home ZIP code, when your current coverage ends, and what you need a new plan to help you manage. We can discuss your options by phone or virtually.

Look beyond the monthly premium.

The premium is what you pay to keep coverage. Also compare the deductible, copays, coinsurance, and the plan’s out-of-pocket limit. That limit does not include every expense: premiums and services outside the plan’s covered benefits, for example, are separate.

A practical comparison has two columns: an ordinary year of care and a year when you need more help. Ask what each plan would require you to pay in both situations. A low monthly bill alone won’t answer that.

HealthCare.gov: understanding total costs

Check the care you actually use.

Before choosing, check the specific plan’s provider network and prescription list. Bring the names of your doctors and medications to your conversation. We’ll also look at referrals, nearby facilities, and out-of-network coverage. Don’t assume two plans from the same company cover care the same way.

Timing and eligibility matter.

Marketplace enrollment is generally tied to an enrollment period or a qualifying life event. Losing job-based coverage may open a Special Enrollment Period. Your state’s marketplace can confirm the current deadline, effective date, and any savings you qualify for.
